First day of fine weather for a while welcomed Caerphilly to Cowbridge. Match started at a fast pace with home team captain scoring a typical scrum half sniping try after just 2 minutes. That went unconverted. Two minutes later an equalising touch down for Caerphilly by their number 11. That was improved upon for a score of 5-7. There then followed an exchange of penalties, before Caerphilly seemingly taking control of the game with two seven point scores to finish the first half at 8-24.
Things however changed in the second half after some home team substitutions. In the 63rd minute after some classy handling in the backs, Angus James finished a move off, but it went unaffected to. In the 67th minute Dix scored his second try of the game, but again an unsuccessful kick at the posts.With the score now at 18-24, the home team we’re looking the more dangerous. However , a 3 point penalty then took them two scores clear. Cowbridge had the last word with a try on the corner from Charlie Locke, but again no extra 2 points which was to prove crucial.
