Cowbridge Overwhelm Cefn Coed

Last Saturday Cowbridge welcomed Cefn Coed RFC to the Athletic Ground on a beautiful,sunny spring afternoon.The visitors have had a very difficult season,lying at the bottom of the league with just two points and struggling at times to raise a team.However,they arrived with the full fifteen plus subs and the first five minutes were fairly even.Then the floodgates opened and Cowbridge went on to score fourteen tries and ten conversions in a 90-5 victory.It would take up too much space to describe every try but Cefn just could not cope with pace of the backs,particularly full back Josh Thomas and wings Adam Dix and Rhydian Williams,and the power of the forwards.There were hat tricks for Williams and Thomas,a brace for Dix and one each for Sam Stephens,Dan Holder,Joe Davies,Aaron Bowman,Huw Lougher and Tom James.There were five superb conversions by Sam Richards,two apiece for Dix and Williams and one for Zac Summerhayes. 

So,the battle for promotion is now down to three teams with two going up.Treharris top the table with 86 points from 19,Fairwater second with 81 from 21 and Cowbridge third with 79 from 20.Cowbridge's last but one game against Pentyrch is on the 24th so will have already been played by the time the Gem is circulated and the final game is this Saturday at home against Clwb Rygbi.Win both and we are definitely up.
